SHOLEF – Israeli Self Propelled Gun – by Alon Koren & Ilan Wrshay

The need to compensate for the absolute quantity edge of the Arab armies artillery forces over the small size IDF force, dictated the need to develop "force multipliers" which be operated in small size structures, yet achieve high maneuverability and the ability to strike a target with the first round.

In this article, Alon & Ilan describes the design parameters behind this unique system, which combined a 45cal. 155m"m gun on a "Merkava" tank chassis, operated by a crew of 4 only.
In the absence of an available modification kit, Alon & Ilan suggest options for adapting items from various models, plus scratch building accessories for modeling this unique system.
Some color photos appear on page 24.

Doing It Wright – by Avshi Sagee

In Avshi's view, one can divide building a model into three stages:

  1. building the structure and the armament – the engineering stage
  2. Painting the model and the adjacent parts- the expressionist stage.
  3. Finishing the model – the "office work" stage.

Each stage has tens of methods and techniques of how to do.
In his article, Avshi relates to various methods of implementing weathering, decaling, weather harms, paint peeling fuel liquids during the final "office work" stage of finishing one's model to the desired scheme.
