Modeling the S-58 - by Yoav Efrati The Sikorsky S-58 has been in use by the IAF during the years 1958-69. In all 31 helicopters were delivered to the IAF, 22 of them from German Army surplus. The helicopters supplied by Germany retained their original Green (RAL 6014 – FS34095) color, but Brown (FS30214) spots were added. The rest were painted in the standard scheme of that Period: Brown (FS30214), Bleu (RAL5008) & Light Grey (RAL7044). History – The last 7 sorties by Vautour IIA # 14 - by Shlomo Aloni Four Vautour airplane were lost during the Six Days War in 1967, one of them being # 14. This airplane took part in missions in Egypt & Syria and was finally shot down by a Hunter airplane over H3 Airbase in Iraq. |

We visited Cobra and blackHawk helicopters squadrons than we went to the base RPVs (remotely piloted vehicles) hanger. We ended our visit by having lunch in one of the base dinning rooms. |

Close Up on the Dassault Mystere IV in IAF Service - by Ofer Zidon
The Dassault Mystere IV entered in service with the IAF in 1956. Shortly afterward this aircraft took part in the 1956 Suez Campaign in the air superiority role, than in the Six Days War as close support aircraft. The Mystere were finally retired from active duty in 1971 after 15 years of service. During that period more than 60 aircraft were purchase from France. Color schemes can be found in pages 17-20. |
